THE JUNCTION MULTI-AWARD WINNER
The Junction has become a multi-award winning pub by winning the Society of Preservation of Beers from the Wood's Pub of the Summer Season.
The award coincides with Yorkshire Day, which is being celebrated at The Junction with a wide range of Yorkshire beers in wooden casks, served by Yorkshire people in a proper Yorkshire pub!
The Junction in Castleford preserves wood cask tradition
In the days before mass-produced lager and ugly metal kegs, when beer was the tipple of choice because water gave you cholera, it used to be produced in wooden casks that helped to imbue the brew inside with unique flavours.
The tradition has fallen by the wayside in recent years, but there are some who still champion these production techniques to keep the old spirit of true cask ale alive.
The Junction in Castleford, West Yorkshire is one such place and its quality ales helped it to win theCampaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) pub of the season earlier this year.

A Castleford pub which prides itself on its real ales and old fashioned service has won a pub of the year award.
The Junction, on Carlton Street, scooped the annual award presented by the prize of Wakefield District Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA).
The pub, which received the award last Thursday, also won the CAMRA pub of the season.
